Floyd Mayweather vs Maidana set for September

Mayweather announced his rematch with Marcos Maidana over the weekend in an interview.  Much like everything Mayweather does, he announced it his way.   Its no surprise that the fight he chose was against the man who gave him all sort of troubles this last May.   Its good to see Mayweather give another shot to a guy like Maidana, who managed to break a little of Floyd’s armor and give us an exiting fight.   This also tells us a little bit of where Floyd is at as of now.   With all things going on with the Richard Schaefer-Oscar de la Hoya feud, Al Haymon, Floyd and company have been left without a promoter.  Yes, Floyd’s company is a promotional company, but it is one without a License.    Reports out of twitter-verse are that Mayweather Promotions are this close to getting a license in the state of New York and that the fight will land at the Barclays Center.   Now, this is not to say they’ll be able to pull it off since the fight is only three months away and promoting an event needs an experienced infrastructure.   Its not as easy as it sounds.

As for now, Mayweather-Maidana II is the fight we’ll get and as Floyd said in the interview, just wait for May, as he has a big surprise for us (I don’t think he’s giving us Pacquiao though).
